About Course

This module equips learners with a strong foundation in the learning sciences, helping them apply evidence-based theories and principles to create more effective, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences. Participants will explore major learning theories, understand how memory, motivation, and cognitive processes impact learning, and discover how to design for diverse learners. By the end of this module, you’ll be able to choose the right instructional approaches, reduce cognitive overload, foster motivation, and design with inclusivity at the core.

What Will You Learn?

  • Explain the main learning theories (behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, connectivism) and their implications for design.
  • Apply adult learning principles (andragogy) and workplace learning trends in your projects.
  • Use cognitive science principles, such as cognitive load theory, multimedia learning, and brain-based strategies to enhance retention and understanding.
  • Design learning experiences that foster motivation and engagement using Self-Determination Theory and the ARCS model.
  • Incorporate strategies for learner diversity, including cultural sensitivity, neurodiversity, accessibility, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Select and justify learning strategies aligned with audience needs, goals, and contexts.
