Professor Joseph Yensu is a distinguished academic, consultant, and finance expert with over two decades of experience in education, research, and leadership. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Southampton, UK, where his doctoral research explored the interconnections between capital structure, corporate cash holdings, and economic growth in African countries. He also earned an MBA in Finance from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), a BA in Economics and Sociology from the University of Cape Coast, and is a Chartered Risk Analyst certified by the Global Academy of Finance and Management.
Professor Yensu currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at Kumasi Technical University’s Department of Entrepreneurship & Finance, where he has also held leadership positions as Vice Dean, Head of Department, and Board Chairman for various university initiatives. He is a sought-after keynote speaker and has delivered presentations on digital transformation, corporate finance, and development economics at conferences in India, France, the UK, and the USA.
His academic interests encompass corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, financial economics, and innovation and entrepreneurship. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the discourse on topics such as monetary policy, stock market dynamics, working capital management, and financial sustainability. His scholarly impact is further underscored by multiple awards, including the Outstanding Research Award at the Global Conference on Business & Finance.
Beyond academia, Professor Yensu has played pivotal roles as a consultant and board member for organizations such as Ghana Reinsurance PLC, the Ghana Medical and Dental Council, and MGA Consulting Ghana Ltd., where he leads initiatives on job creation and skills development. He has also supervised more than 200 master’s and doctoral theses, mentored PhD and DBA candidates, and facilitated workshops on quantitative research methods and statistical software (notably Stata).
Professor Yensu is a member of the British Accounting and Finance Association and actively contributes to Ghana’s higher education and professional development landscape through his service on the National Accreditation Board and other committees. His personal interests include reading, travel, sports, and following global economic and social developments.
